Re-tooling The Adventures of a Wheel Man

Hello all who have been following Johnny’s adventures in cycling. I’ve decided to make some changes to the characters that will help in developing many great strips in the future.

First of all, here’s some background on Johnny that I’ve put in place. Johnny was born in Columbia and immigrated to the United States as a young child. His last name is Fuentes and his father’s name is Bill. Bill was a fisherman in Columbia and took up being a boat mechanic on Lake Minnetonka. Johnny’s mother’s name is Maria and she works as a nurse at the local clinic.

Johnny’s life parallels mine in many ways. Just as with my Iranian decent, Johnny’s Colombian background will prove to be great fodder to the local bullies and bigots. For instance, just as I was compared to Ayatollah Khomeini, Johnny will be compared with Pablo Escobar. Just as I was made out to be a terrorist, Johnny will be the red herring for drug consumption and dealing.

I will draw upon my experience of being bullied an reacting to the bullying in unhealthy ways. This in no means is a way to get back at the city where I was raised. I’m using this new approach to The Adventures of a Wheel Man as a way to show how I could have handled my situation¬†differently.

I have come to peace with those that abused and taunted me growing up. After all, they were only children being fed fear and divisiveness by the role models in society. Johnny will conquer these obstacles and become a real/wheel man ūüėČ

The Right to be Wrong #2

This post is dedicated to all the law enforcement officials who lost their lives due to the unregulated sale of weapons to those living in the United States so far in 2016. Here is the 2nd Amendment as it reads:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Here is the definition of militia according to Merriam Webster:

  1. a :  a part of the organized armed forces of a country liable to call only in emergency

b :  a body of citizens organized for military service

  2. :  the whole body of able-bodied male citizens declared by law as being subject to call to military service

Nowhere in the 2nd Amendment does it state that hunting or having an irrational fear of being attacked being necessary to the security of a free State. We have a militia today and they are called the National Guard. That’s my social commentary for today and I’m sticking to it.

The Right to be Wrong

I couldn’t fit all the victims’ names for the Orlando massacre so I’ve decided to type them out below. I did not copy and paste them. I feel it’s my duty to give more time to the deceased than a couple of clicks. I know I could have given more space for the Orlando massacre but I thought that each mass shooting deserves the same amount of space since I feel they are equally disturbing.
